Social Media Censorship Is The Beginning Of An Orwellian Nightmare
Well, if you are a child of literature, the word, “Orwellian” shouldn’t really sound strange to you. But, for those who aren’t familiar, here is what Orwellian means.
The term “Orwellian” is associated with the literary works of George Orwell, an English writer, journalist, a political philosopher, literary critic, and a cultural commentator. However, “Orwellian” mostly relates to Orwell’s dystopian novel titled “Nineteen Eighty-Four (1984),” a book he completed a few years before he died in 1950.
The book foretells a future of how the state would assume a “totalitarian” entity, exerting absolute power and control over the citizens through authoritarian projects such as “thoughtcrime” (information surveillance), “Newspeak” (language manipulations and regulations), and “doublethink” (replacing real evidence with false reality/propaganda), all representing some of the ways the state can manipulate language through the use of technology to gain control over its citizens.
In Orwell’s 1984, the fictional state of Oceania discovered that the ability to control people’s actions through violence is quite alright, but the real power lies in the ability to control the narrative—people’s language. You can only hold so many people down at a time using the force of violence, but if truly you want to suppress and crush any hope of rebellion or revolution, you must control what people think, hear, and speak—the narrative. It is replacing natural and popular language with political language—the language of the authoritarian government. The language that is carefully and systematically designed to make lies sound truthful, to make people reject the real evidence and accept party propaganda. Political language is the thought-shaping language used by the government to make a murder look respectable and acceptable. It creates a cognitive dissonance (doublethink) that overwhelms people to ignore or reject the reality in favor of the state’s narrative.
That is why so many people believed the government narrative that Al Qaeda did 9/11 with those hijacked planes, even when some of the surviving workers and eyewitnesses in the Twin Towers testified that they heard explosives going off in the lower parts of the buildings while the planes hit different spots way up. Can we say controlled demolitions??
That is why the government just wants you to accept their narrative about Sector 7 (the other high-rise building) going down on a free-fall even when none of the planes impacted it.
That is why they wanted you to believe (and so many did believe) that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction as a premise to invade Iraq. To this date, we still can’t find these so-called weapons. But of course, this would be considered old news and the damage is done.
All of these were controlled schemes similar to the ones used by the fictional state of Oceania in Orwell’s 1984 book depicting a dystopia and tyrannical government—a prophetic fictional political life that has, unfortunately, become the norm of the 21st century.
Orwellian is an adjective often used as a synonym to represent the word “Authoritarian.” Thus, anything that seeks to limit or actively limits freedom of speech becomes Orwellian.
The concepts and ideas enshrined in Nineteen Eighty-Four have found their way into the present-day social and political spectrum, and have even extended further beyond their original meanings.
The NSA spy network that puts prices on people’s private life are the real-life Orwellian Thought Police that seeks to hear and to know whatever you have done, whatever you are doing now, and whatever you will do tomorrow.
But the biggest of them all is social media censorship—the new and most diabolic thought control machinery of the powers that be.
The rate at which social media censorship is hitting out in all directions against perceived “political and social enemies” is a concern that calls for urgent action. Before we go any deeper, let’s educate ourselves on why social media censorship is really egregious.
The First Amendment in the Bill of Rights as enshrined in the U.S. Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of speech for all Americans. It is a historical fact that the right to speak freely and openly is designed as a tool to checkmate the excesses of the Federal Government. But from recent happenings, it is clear that there is a clever, systematic and satanic scheme in place to erode the right to freedom of speech in the name of political correctness.
There is an ongoing and persistent effort within the “progressive left” seeking to silence speech that doesn’t align with their interest or ideology. Tech giants like Google, YouTube, and their social media partners in crime such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Apple, Snapchat, and their algorithms are actively censoring conservative speeches and banning certain individuals from using their platforms. Be it Christian, pro-Trump, Islamic or political views–any speech that promotes or seek to promote the tenets of concrete conservative beliefs and culture are being censored by the left-wing tech Goliaths.
It wasn’t long ago when Facebook announced it has banned and shut down the accounts of some prominent conservative personalities such as Louis Farrakhan (Nation of Islam leader and activist), Alex Jones (host of Infowars), Paul Joseph (YouTube personality and Infowars contributor), Laura Loomer (journalist and activist), and Milo Yiannopoulous. The lame excuse for the ban is that these individuals are “dangerous.” In other words, their views as expressed in their speeches run contrary to the views of the progressive movement spearheaded by those who see themselves as Liberal.
The fact that the government has done nothing to address this extremely feculent approach to the Bill of Rights and gross violation of the First Amendment (a duty they swore to uphold) shows they might be in bed with these companies owned by nerds and one-percenters.
If George Orwell is watching proceedings from the afterlife, he must be impressed with his book “1984.” His prophecy has proved to be accurate. We are now living in a political, economic, and social media state of Orwellian censorship. The government in its inactive and passive attitude is the initiator while the social media platforms (including a large number of mainstream media houses) and the NSA are the Thought Police. The mandate is clear: accept our narrative or shut up and forever remain silent.
Of Course, There’s A Way Out
You know the saying, “when there is a will, there is a way.” You can break free from social media censorship today, and it’s amazing how simple it takes to break free. JUST GET A FUCKING WEBSITE. You heard that, right! Get a website, and continue airing your views, making use of your right to free speech.
Take a cue from Alex Jones, though his accounts were closed down by Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, he continues to make headlines on the internet through his website, Infowars.com. You can do the same and make sure the voice of the opposition is heard. Otherwise, be ready for a complete Orwellian state where violence and civil strife would be the new order. A government and society with no opposing views is a prelude to absolute power which corrupts absolutely, and an invitation to totalitarianism, anarchy, chaos, and a complete descent into a Hobbesian state of nature. The results are people taking up arms to defend their rights. But who wants another civil war? You can prevent that today by getting your website and keep pushing back at the opposition.
You Need To Ask Yourself If You Are A Professional Or A Hobbyist
To succeed in anything, you need to define your level of creativity and the mindset that underlines it. Are you a hobbyist or a creative professional? The life of a creative professional is starkly different from that of a hobbyist.
A creative professional is someone who shows immense commitment (time and money) to his creative ability, and he/she can make a living (financial gain) off his/her creative ability.
On the other hand, a hobbyist is someone who commits or invest less time and money into his/her creative endeavor, and can conveniently leave it to do other things or care less about it because they don’t make a living off of it.
So ask yourself: are you a creative professional or a creative hobbyist? You can base your answers on the following points:
- What is the outcome and quality of the work you are producing? Are they at an amateur or a professional level?
- Have you invested your money and time in pursuit of your creative passion? Is it something that you do fervently and consistently?
Notwithstanding the answers and conclusion you will arrive at, it is crucial that you get your website to push your creative endeavor.
Too many artists (including) musicians are content with showcasing their work on social media only. They expect people to take them seriously, but they’re not showing that they take themselves and their brand seriously.
If you value your investment and you are committed to your brand, you must stop being too reliant on a social media presence and get your website as soon as possible. You also need to upgrade from being an amateur hobbyist and become a professional creative. You can do this by focusing on making an impact, then carving out your niche, becoming ambitious and persistent, developing a passion for your creative endeavor, and getting critical feedback on all that you do.
Test the market; strengthen your skills based on your critical feedbacks. Write out a business plan, start marketing and networking, and above all, never forget to believe in yourself. Self-belief is kin to success, and owning your website demonstrates self-belief and imposes the confidence to forge ahead against the odds of today’s Orwellian state of social media censorship.
The Benefits Of Having Your Website And Why You Need One ASAP
The best value you can demonstrate towards your creative endeavor is ownership. You need to own and be in command of what keeps your creative passion active, lively, and profitable, and getting a website is the best way to guarantee that ownership.
Having your own website is the best pushback you can muster against the current Orwellian state of social media censorship that is currently rocking the American business, political, and social society.
Social media doesn’t need to be the only source of being active online. With a website, your small business or creative product and services can assume a new dimension and attract a larger customer base.
In today’s consistently evolving world of online activities, a social media presence is indeed vital for business success. However, the increase in the level of social media censorship shows it is unwise to rely solely on social media. Getting a website is now a MUST for all businesses and creative endeavors—whether they be profit-driven or non-profit based. The benefits are unbelievable.
For instance, your personal website gives you credibility, allows you to cut costs, improves customer service, and makes your business available at all times. With a website, you can target new and larger markets and showcase your works. A website allows you to stay current on new market trends, and it’s a time-saver.
Perhaps, the best benefits of owning a website are that it allows you to maintain a 24/7/365 online presence, one which can never be sanctioned by the wicked tentacles of social media censorship. It will also help you to destroy the competition and accelerate your competitiveness.
These and many more are reasons why you need to get a website ASAP. Don’t wait until the Orwellian government spearheaded by the “progressive” left and their power-hungry backers to take over. The time to act is NOW.
Having Your Own Platform Means You Control Your Narrative
As stated earlier, the only one who can best tell your brand or creative story is you. The global statistics that measures internet censorship shows we are gradually approaching, (if not already living in) an Orwellian state of economic, social, and political activities where censorship is the order of the day. Today, about 67 percent of people who use the internet lives in countries where some forms of internet/social media censorship exist.
About 27 percent of internet users reside in countries where arrests are often made for contents and speeches posted on social media platforms.
If you think this only happens in places like China or Russia, then sorry to disappoint you. Even our mighty United States of America that boasts of the best democracy in the world is one of the leading Orwellian states of social media censorship. This really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone whose face isn’t in the sand since the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate in the world. Tech giants driven by the liberal/progressive democracy movement in collaboration with our government led by The Establishment (the oligarchs, Wall Street/bankers and warmongers) are actively censoring contents and free speech on social media. Our First Amendment Right is being fucked right under our eyes.
No doubt, there is a glaring attempt to restrict access to real information, and there is a need to fight against censorship. One of the ways you can do that is to own a website and be in control of the narrative.
As a brand, it is in your best interest to not only refrain from censoring your business but to not have to deal with a platform that can censor you when they feel like it. This can happen in an era where people seem to be more hyper-sensitive and willing to tattletale whenever someone says something they don’t agree with.
Social media shouldn’t be an end all, be all anyway. Social media should only be around to network and bring in more customers.
Your own website should be your main hub. It should be your online storefront, a place where you can not only sell your product or services unapologetically but a place where you’re in 100% control of the narrative.
Do your business a favor and get a website. Get one so you can enjoy your God-given right to speak freely and function effectively as a professional while leaving behind the Orwellian state of social media censorship.
