College Admissions Scandal Means Black People Need Entrepreneurship

Cheaters Paradise: The Sad Reality of the Admission Process into U.S. Colleges & Universities

Some people say that human beings are the same everywhere and that Americans (especially the ones who are the major perpetrators of racism and classism) are not at all better than the rest of the world who are perceived to be so beneath them. Well, the recent college admissions scandal just proves that right.

It turns out that the American college sector and its admissions process is nothing but a cheater’s paradise where epidemically corrupt wealthy parents, which includes a few mediocre Hollywood superstars bribed their way into getting their children admitted into America’s prestigious universities and colleges.

The widespread college admissions scandal that recently rocked the nation as much as a baby in need of sleep saw the FBI indicting wealthy white parents, including renowned TV figures like Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin. Many other wealthy parents also participated in the vile and elaborate scam that saw their children gaining admission into these prominent schools and a number of them onto highly competitive college sports teams, despite the fact that many of these children have never played or practiced any sport in their privileged life.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, this is America. We live in a system of racism that was built and maintained since America’s inception. We’re talking about a system of racism to keep one race over another by any means, even through educational institutions such as college.

Spoiled Kids Can Depend on Their Parents Wallet to Get Them Through Life

These same people and others like them in the top echelons of power in this country are always quick to point accusing fingers at people from third-world nations for being corrupt. They push the frontiers of war and cry for regime change, sponsoring sheer terror and color-coded revolutions in other poorer and less developed countries. All in the name of installing “demo-crazy,” which we now know to be, “the government of the rich parents, by the rich parents and for the rich parents,” and their kids who are as spoiled as expired milk who delight in cheating in schools. If it’s not cheating in schools, then there are the ones who can commit heinous crimes and get a slap on the wrist for it. This pure flexing of (rich) white privilege is flagrant, and here is why we believe it is.

Black People Have Suffered Derision In Favor of White Privilege

There are people out there who have heard about the college admissions scandal and have told themselves that instead of white privilege, this is “wealth privilege.” How Sway?! They say this as if it isn’t more white people that are in the millionaire class than every other race (aside from Asians) in the U.S. They say this as if white people didn’t somehow get a leg-up in this American society that was built on the backs of black people who were enslaved. We haven’t forgotten how America was built, have we? Have we forgotten all of the things that have contributed to the embarrassment of a racial wealth gap that is present to this day?

That is why this admission scandal is causing waves of widespread outrage and resentment from the black community. For too long, black students, who in most (if not, all) cases, have to work twice as hard, to secure admission into top colleges, have been classified and derided as “affirmative action cases.” What that means is that black students only gain admission to these colleges because of the color of their skin, and not because of their intelligence, unique skills, and commitment to hard work.

The hypocrisy is glaring, and this is why so many black people are expressing outrage following the recent scandal. For far too long, blacks have suffered derision in place of a hidden hypocritical show of white privilege.

It’s no secret that whites were the ones who were truly benefiting from affirmative action, not the other way around.

According to a Federal Reserve data analysis, we know that 1 in every 7 white families in the United States belongs in the millionaire class. But for African-Americans, only 1 in 50 families belong in that class, and the disparity in this wealth keeps growing like a malignant cancer. So who is really in the right position to enjoy affirmative action?

Come to think of it; all of the racists who have been attacking black students and workers on affirmative action, none of them have openly stated the fact that white affirmative action has been made to remain untouched and completely intact boasting legacy admissions and unfettered access to mostly completely all-white schools in the private K-12 category. What about expensive standardized old-boy network and test prep? While the majority of less-privileged kids do meager jobs at a city park program or some fast food joint during the summer, the rich white kids (achieving or underachieving) enjoys the first-class world of unbeatable resume enhancers like unpaid summer internships that assume parents support and a semester abroad. What about the criminal justice system that thrives on racial profiling and gives white drug offenders a mild reprimand while locking up thousands of black boys and girls in prison across the country? Now tell us, who benefits from affirmative action? Certainly, not black people but white people.

Today, the cat is out of the bag and the people who have been attacking black people can stop deflecting and exaggerating about the times black people benefitted from Affirmative Action.

So, what we see unearthing before our eyes is not a show of shock among black people, but a confirmation of the unjust treatment black people have suffered for many years. All those black men and women whose character, intellect, and culture were subjected to questions and mockery by the elitists, have been vindicated by this scandal and are somewhat rejoicing.

The world is simply witnessing what many blacks have known all along. Wealthy white kids with the help of their mothers and fathers who resorted to cheating and the use of all of their influence and resources didn’t want to compete with “America’s” lower and middle-class black children who were made to fight for everything they have got. These same wealthy white kids who were cheated into these schools most likely had everything handed to them through a shiny silver spoon.

An experience they say is the best teacher, and today, all those spoiled kids and their parents thought they could use their wealth to purchase the illusion of supremacy just discovered the most crucial fact: that they were never as good and as hardworking as the working and middle class. Hence they resort to cheating and using affirmative action to get their kids into college to cover up their mediocrity as much as possible.

The rich have been actively buying their way into colleges for decades, and there has been a lot of admissions controversy previously. We still remember that 8 educators in Atlanta went to prison for boosting student test scores. And now this. Will anyone get severely punished for this scandal? Who knows, but if that were to happen, no one should be obligated to feel sorry for any of these people.

The Need For Black People To Become More Active Entrepreneurs

While the black community has every right to laugh at the exposed mediocrity of everyone involved in this college admission scandal, there is, however, a take-home from this “white lie”: black people need to become entrepreneurs now more than ever. The reasons are too obvious at this point.

One of the many overlooked reasons why wealthy white people were able to freely perpetuate such corruption of buying their way into U.S. elite institutions and sports teams is down to the high difference in wealth and debt brackets.

Yes, black people will always have fewer numbers of people in elite institutions as a result of institutionalized racism and for the fact that black people are disadvantaged by population difference. These factors indeed contribute to the appalling difference in numbers of whites and blacks in every category of the American educational system.

Admissions into elite colleges and universities were designed to favor white people. While the 20th century saw many institutions opening the door for a broader range of applicants, institutionalized racism is still in place to ensure that white people gain the upper hand in admissions.

Notwithstanding, lack of wealth creation and student loan debt is one reason why black people have not been able to compete vehemently in the educational sector and society as a whole. Estimates show that more than 86% of black students took out federal student loans to study at a four-year course at a public college. That is 30% more than white students taking out a federal loan. Considering that white people have a higher population rate than black people, the baton ought to have swung the other way. But that isn’t the case. Rather, black people are the ones owing more debt, and that is due to the stark difference in wealth creation, an inequality that is getting worse by the day.

While white student loan borrowers pay down on their debt by a yearly rate of 10 percent, black student loan borrowers only manage to pay down by 4 percent. This poses a severe risk to black students and their college ambition. Such debts are discouraging so many people from going to college these days. But when there is a will, there is a way and one of those ways for black people to overcome this ugly trend is: become entrepreneurs.

College Admission And Certification Doesn’t Guarantee Success

The recent and ongoing scandal that exposes the rot in the nation’s prestigious college admission process is a shame of epic proportion but also a snap back to the reality of life in America. If you honestly think that attending the perfect college will give you a prosperous and fulfilled life, just know that you are dreaming.

Take the recent college show of shame and ask yourself this question concerning entrepreneurship. Is it compulsory to attend a college or university that has the highest rank in the entrepreneurship course to build a company? While the scammers like those pompous and arrogant parents and their spoiled children would say yes, the reality tells a different story.

Here are some of the world’s most famous companies whose founders never made it to college or graduated out of college.

  • Facebook
  • Virgin Airlines
  • Ford
  • MySpace
  • Whatsapp
  • McDonald’s
  • Honda
  • Etsy
  • Bank of America
  • Dell Computer
  • IKEA
  • Disney
  • Apple
  • Google
  • Yahoo
  • Microsoft
  • Twitter
  • Uber
  • And more.

Now here are a few companies established by people who attended and graduated from state-run universities.

  • Intel
  • Costco
  • Black and Decker
  • Berkshire Hathaway
  • Volcom, and more.

Now, do you get the picture? To become a successful entrepreneur, you don’t need to bribe your way or attend a prestigious college, not to mention a regular college.

What you need is to cultivate a growth mindset. Black people have to believe that they can learn what they need to know to study the markets, analyze the industries, identify and define a significant problem, and then create a win-win solution for that problem; one that brings you money and ensures the customer’s happiness.

That is what black people need now more than ever. Our ability to create wealth through entrepreneurship will not only allow us to compete on a much better level but also allow us to seek better education devoid of debts and shame like our counterparts who happen to be wealthy.

At the end of the day, the power is in our hands. Now is the time to put it to use.
