1.) For the people out there who haven’t heard of you and are not aware of the work you do, please tell them who you are. Can you emphasize why your brand of entertainment is important in this day and age? In addition to that, let us know what separates you from other entrepreneurs out there?
My name is Reggie Haynes and I am an entertainer and entrepreneur from Houston, Texas. I create content whether it being in the form of music, filmmaking, acting, etc. in order to represent Melanated/African Empowerment and truth in order to abolish all forms of evil and inhumane behavior.
2.) What elements and/or characteristics made you say to yourself that you wanted to do entertainment and entrepreneurship for a living? Who are your influences/heroes/role models?
My influences have always been my Good Ancestors, my Elders, and the spirituality of all that is good in the universe.
3.) Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. Is there anything in your life that has any influence on the type of shows you make and the kind of songs you write? What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure on your path to becoming an artist?
4.) How do you prepare yourself to create? What is your process in coming up with content that you create?
Everything that I’ve created today was written by me since I was 9-10 years old so the preparation is simple where I just focus on the writing and put myself in the right mindset to deliver what’s needed.
5.) Unfortunately the creative industry is full of talented individuals who more or less become the “starving artist” and don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or hard work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed?
It’s not about me, it’s about we. So I will continue to do everything to abolish the dividers leading our people around the globe to feel low. Hopefully this can bring a different way of life to creatives to do what they love to do without being in a competitive or divisive state of mind.
6.) Would you rather work for a big corporation or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not?
I will always stay independent as I believe that it is best to do for self and create your own table rather than put all of your energy into asking someone for a seat at theirs.
7.) How do you think the internet and social media affected the creative industry and how artists are able to market themselves?
It’s a beautiful thing. With one click you can share any of your work to millions and that can help you and your brand tremendously.
8.) Social media is obviously an extremely important element in today’s world, especially when it comes to business, branding, marketing, etc. With that being said, do you think an entrepreneur will be able to survive in today’s economy if they’re not social media savvy? How important do you think social media numbers are to someone’s brand?
Well back in the day people used “word of mouth”, I think that still applies today just in a different way. So with or without social media I believe people who have that will power to push their work will be just fine.
9.) Artists who try to create art for the general public and make more money are usually seen as “sell-outs.” Do you see it that way and if so, what do you plan to do to make sure your art stays true to your brand and make a good living at the same time without having to “sell out”?
I feel like with whatever I have I will use to create any and everything to get our people off of the plantation and hopefully that will abolish the plantation mindset globally.
10.) Professionally, where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years from now?
Doing something to uplift and empower our people on a consistent basis while living a phenomenal lifestyle.
