1.) What was it that made you say to yourself that you wanted to make hip hop music? Who are your influences/heroes/role models?
My upbringing got me into hip hop and rapping. Both of my parents were on drugs, so I used writing as a way to escape. LL Cool J, Tupac, Nas, GZA and Rakim were big influences!!!
2.) When it comes to music, what would you say separates you from other rappers?
I just try to be as realistic as possible, and trim the fat so to speak. I don’t rap for the sake of rapping!!!
3.) Everyone in life goes through adversity of some sort. Is there anything in your life that has any influence on the kind of songs you write? What is the most difficult thing you’ve had to endure on your path to becoming a musician?
Like I said earlier, dealing with my mother and father on drugs was rough and it definitely sinked into my writing!!!
4.) How do you prepare yourself to write certain songs? What is your song-writing and recording process?
I vibe to the beat and basically let the beat form my feeling for the track. Sometimes I’ll write a hook first or sometimes I’ll write all the verses and write a hook based on the verses!!!
5.) Unfortunately the music industry is full of talented individuals who just don’t get any recognition for their talent and/or work. What do you plan to do to make sure you stand out and get noticed?
I just try to come different every time while staying true to my core audience!!!
6.) Would you rather be on a major label or would you rather stay independent? Why or why not? In regards to the music industry itself, do you think that the traditional music industry model as we know it is dead?
I would want to stay independent and control my own destiny. If I were to sign with a major, I would have to have a lot of control!!!
7.) What inspired you to create your mixtape 24MHZ and what was the inspiration behind the name?
Well Mic Rukazz came up with the name and concept. 24megahertz is the highest frequency, so I’m operating at the highest frequency!!! lol
8.) Social media is obviously an extremely important element in today’s world, especially when it comes to business, branding, marketing, etc. With that being said, do you think an artist will be able to survive in today’s music industry if they’re not social media savvy? How do you think the internet and social media affected the music industry and how musicians are able to market themselves?
Social media is a gift and curse, but the positive is you can release your own music, content or whatever else on your own. The negative is it becomes saturated!!!
9.) 24MHZ is definitely a mixtape for the people out there who want to hear talented rappers who spit bars, so was catering to that audience what you had in mind when you put the mixtape together or was there another reason behind the creation of the mixtape or both?
10.) What are the positives and negatives of the music industry? What is it about the music industry that makes some artists push forward? What do you think makes some artists quit?
11.) If you were to advise an aspiring apper on how to get better with their craft, what advice would you give them and why?
12.) Professionally where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years from now?
